Training Schedule, Jan 11-17

Running is no longer fun while pregnant, although some of my friends continue to do so. I'm almost as fast walking as I am running, so I think it's time to convert to all low-impact. Swimming and cycling times are still good and competitive. I will focus on running again when I do not have this extra weight and blood volume.

Monday & Wednesday: Swim-cycle brick workout
Tuesday & Saturday: Baby Boot Camp
Thursday & Sunday: Stroller walks
I may hike on Friday with East Bay Moms at Strawberry Canyon

Workouts for the Week of Jan 4

Last week didn't go so well. I blame the lack of childcare and two days of "holiday." This week should be better, but I am feeling a lot of strain on the ligaments in my lower abdomen, so I will stick to more low-impact. Also, since it's the second trimester, let's keep everything to 60 minutes or less.

Mon: Swim 35, Bike 25 [Done: 1000 yards and 9 miles]
Tue: Strength & run [Done: boot camp, 55 minutes]
Wed: Swim 15, Bike 45 [Done: 1400 yards in 45 minutes]
Thu: Walk 60 [Done: Lake Merritt, 3 miles, with Lisa]
Fri: Swim 60 [Cycling for 30 minutes, 10.75 miles]
Sat: Strength & run [Done: boot camp, 75 minutes]

Swim 20 minutes [DONE]
Run/walk 2.5 miles [DONE]

Wednesday, September 2, 2009

If yesterday was a training day for endurance, today will be a training day for either strength or speed. In an effort to make sure that I can actually finish the triathalon on September 26, I ran to Baby Boot Camp yesterday (with both girls in the stroller), completed the 55 minute class, and walked home (with both girls in the stroller).
  • 2.5 mile run with 89 lb. load - 27 minutes
  • Baby Boot Camp - 55 minutes
  • 2.5 mile walk with 89 lb. load - 47 minutes
Total time = 129 minutes.

Today is Cheryl's day to teach a Level II class; this should include short distances of running (less than 1 mile), which is a perfect time to train for speed.
